Latest news 10th November - Dungeness new build nuclear rejected
A link to statement from department of Energy & Climate Change states "Dungeness was nominated but has not been listed as the Government does not consider that potential environmental impacts at this site can be mitigated. The Government also has concerns about coastal erosion and associated flood risk at that nominated site". http://www.decc.gov.uk/en/content/cms/news/pn130/pn130.aspx
Consultation on draft National Policy Statements for Energy Infrastructure
FLAG calls for local, regional and national politicians to come forward and support the sustainable development of Lydd Airport together with the needed rail infrastructure. Lydd is the environmentally acceptable solution to runway congestion in the Southeast.
Have a look at a Boeing 737-800, the largest 737 type, the Ryanair aircraft in the front.
Then look at the aircraft in the background, the type that LAAG have been using in their advertising, saying they will be coming to Lydd!!

FLAG - The independent voice of Romney Marsh
You make up your mind who is distorting the truth.
Lydd has (and will have when developed) a short "regional airport" runway, one that is too narrow (30M wide as opposed to 45M at major airports) to handle "wide bodied" jets like those in the background above.
FLAG is concerned to promote Lydd Airport Development as an important Regional Airport Infrastructure in line with District, County and Government's integrated transport policy. With due regard to Air Travel Safety and the environmental impact FLAG wants to see the generation of extra JOBS which the development will bring. With direct quality training for jobs at the Airport and the improving transport links that this development will achieve, other companies will be attracted to Romney Marsh because the Airport is developing, local business will improve because more people will be in work, instead of the decline that will be seen with the closure of Dungeness A.

FLAG will inform everyone rationally and truthfully about the future development that is proposed for Lydd Airport, and keep you informed of the progress that is being made.
We will be giving fair representation of the factors which will affect the area regarding the number of flights likely, the true flight paths these aircraft will take, the levels at which they will fly, a true reading of the low decibel level these 3rd and 4th generation jets achieve, and a realistic volume of road traffic.
ROMNEY MARSH SUPPORTS
Lydd Airport Development
The development of Lydd Airport will be good for Romney Marsh creating NEW REAL JOBS at a time when the power stations will be closing down. It will be good for new & better transport links & will bring more business on the Marsh creating "more" NEW JOBS.
Unlike the NIMBYs who use scaremongering and exaggeration, we agree that the development should get planning permission as soon as possible so that the NEW GENERATION of quiet WHISPER JETS & passengers can start using Lydd Airports Facilities AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
